Evening

Take the official Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation heritage walk through the old city's pols (c. 7:30 AM next day, or this evening if you arrive early). Dinner at Manek Chowk for legendary street food.

Day 2

Ahmedabad heritage → road to Rajkot / Dwarka direction

Morning

Visit Adalaj Stepwell and the 600-year-old Jama Masjid before the old city gets crowded. Both are calm before 9 AM.

Afternoon

Drive west toward Rajkot (c. 4.5 hrs). En route, stop at the Sun Temple and Modhera if you started early — or save it for a longer trip.

Evening

Overnight in Rajkot to break the long drive to Dwarka. Your driver handles tolls and rest-stop timing; you just approve the pace.

Stay
Rajkot
Eat
Kathiyawadi dinner — bajra rotla, sev tameta, lasaniya batata
Drive
~220 km / 4.5 hrs

Day 3

Dwarka — Krishna's kingdom by the sea

Morning

Early start to Dwarka (c. 4.5 hrs). Arrive for lunch, then head straight to Dwarkadhish Temple. The 6:30 PM evening aarti is the main event, but the afternoon darshan is more relaxed.

Afternoon

Visit Rukmini Devi Temple at sunset — the light on the sandstone is beautiful and the crowds are thin.

Evening

Attend the Dwarkadhish evening aarti. Walk back along the ghats for dinner.

Stay
Dwarka
Eat
Seafood at a local restaurant near the temple; vegetarian thali options available
Drive
~220 km / 4.5 hrs

Day 4

Bet Dwarka, Nageshwar Jyotirlinga → Somnath

Morning

Take the 8 AM boat to Bet Dwarka. A smaller, quieter island temple where Krishna is believed to have lived. Then visit Nageshwar Jyotirlinga, one of the 12 sacred Jyotirlingas.

Afternoon

Scenic coastal drive to Somnath (c. 4 hrs). Check in and rest before the evening darshan.

Evening

Somnath Temple darshan + the Sound & Light show at 7:45 PM. It narrates the temple's repeated destruction and rebuilding across centuries.

Stay
Somnath
Eat
Simple temple-town dinner; ask your driver for the cleanest local option
Drive
~230 km / 4 hrs

Day 5

Somnath morning → Diu beach & fort

Morning

Optional 6 AM Mangla aarti at Somnath. After breakfast, visit Bhalka Tirth and Triveni Sangam — a short 10-minute drive from the temple.

Afternoon

Drive to Diu (c. 2 hrs). This is the best leg of the trip — smooth coastal road with sea views. Check in to a beach hotel.

Evening

Sunset at Nagoa Beach, then a relaxed dinner. Diu is where you slow down after the temple circuit.

Stay
Diu
Eat
Fresh catch at a beachside shack or Portuguese-influenced cafés in Diu town
Drive
~85 km / 2 hrs
6

Day 6

Diu sunrise → Sasan Gir lion safari

Morning

Optional sunrise walk to Diu Fort. Built by the Portuguese, it juts into the sea and is almost empty at 7 AM.

Afternoon

Drive to Sasan Gir (c. 2 hrs) for the 3 PM jeep safari. Devalia zone has near-guaranteed lion sightings, and the smaller Interpretation Zone is ideal if you want a shorter, guaranteed sighting.

Evening

Return to Diu for the night, or stay at a Gir lodge. We usually recommend returning to Diu — the beach hotels are more comfortable and the drive is short.

Stay
Diu (or Gir on request)
Eat
Early dinner back in Diu; most safari lodges close kitchens by 8:30 PM
Drive
~150 km round trip / 2 hrs each way

Day 7

Depart via Diu Airport

Morning

Sleep in, then a final walk on Nagoa Beach. Pick up last-minute souvenirs from the old town market.

Afternoon

Transfer to Diu Airport for your flight to Mumbai or Ahmedabad. Your driver drops you at departures with a packed water bottle and a WhatsApp check-in from our team before takeoff.

Evening

End of tour — or extend to the Rann of Kutch if you have 2–3 extra days.

Stay
Departure
Eat
Light lunch at a Diu café before the airport
Drive
Diu hotel to airport — 15–30 min

Itinerary tips from our Diu team

  • Why this route is balanced

You get temples, wildlife, beaches and city heritage in one week without backtracking. Each drive is 4 hours or less after the first two longer days.

  • Best months

November to February. The Rann of Kutch is at its best December–January; Gir is closed 16 June – 15 October.

  • Private car vs group tour

A private car lets you start earlier, stop where you want, and adjust the pace. Group tours often lose half a day to fixed schedules and hotel pickups.

  • What the driver does

Your driver is also your local guide for routing, temple timing, rest-stop suggestions, and restaurant recommendations. He doesn't enter the temple sanctum with you but gets you to the right gate at the right time.

  • Extend this trip

Add 2 nights for the Rann of Kutch (Bhuj/Dhordo), or 1 night for the Statue of Unity. Both are easy detours from this same loop.
